This view depicts a view from one of the most stunning beaches in Northern Ireland... in Ballycastle on the north coast, where I also grew up spending many Summer days on this beach.
I have used a warm colour palette to reflect the setting sun which also creates a beautiful 'glow' of light through the dramatic wave in the foreground. In the background the beautiful tall ship, the 'Thalassa Barkentijn' adds further interest with its grand and distinctive design. A dutch vessel, it has visited this part of the Irish coastline many times, often part of whiskey tours and maritime festivals in the area.
