This view of East Strand beach in Portrush, with the famous Whiterocks and Royal Portrush golf course in the distance, is taken from Lansdowne car park which I regularly walk through when doing one of my strolls through the seaside town. I often remark on how the sun always seems to hit the beach's sand dunes, even on the dullest of days which this one was. I wanted to capture the contrast between the dark moody sky and the golden light on the sand. I have also used a palette knife to add textured interest to the rocks in the foreground.
