This scene in Portstewart in Northern Ireland shows a little beach just off the town's promenade with the dramatic Dominican college building in the background towering above the Atlantic sea below. I particularly loved the light on the day this reference photograph was taken as the setting sun cast a soft glow over the water and created lovely tones on the rocks. Since completing this painting, the remains of the former 'Strand Ballroom' situated directly below the college, have been totally demolished for development so it's quite significant to have this scene recorded for future reference.
