One of my favourite beaches to visit, Portstewart strand is unmistakably one of the most beautiful beaches on the north coast of Ireland. I have painted it many times and don't think I will ever tire of it as my inspiration. In this particular painting I have used a more unusual colour palette reflecting the time of day, early evening, when the low sun created a kaleidoscope of colours in the sky, which are reflected onto the sea below. The people and their dogs having a 'dander' on the sand add further interest to an atmospheric piece.
