One of my favourite beaches to visit, Portstewart strand is unmistakably one of the most beautiful beaches on the north coast of Ireland. Not surprisingly, it was voted the UK and Northern Ireland's 'Beach of the Year 2025'. I have painted it many times and don't think I will ever tire of it as my inspiration. In this particular painting I have used a more unusual colour palette reflecting the time of day, early evening, when the low sun created a kaleidoscope of colours in the sky, which are reflected onto the sea below. The people and their dogs having a 'dander' on the sand add further interest to an atmospheric piece.
